"Idol United" is a sports reality program featuring members from different idol groups, shown in time with the 2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa. The team is headed by comedian and coach of the team Yoo Sang-moo and captain Moon Hee-jun who coach 12 idol players including MBLAQ’s Seung-ho, Mir, Lee Joon, F.CUZ’s LeeU, Kan, JinOn, The Boss’ Karam, Hyungmin, Injun and ZE:A’s Dongjun, Minwoo, Hyungsik, along with Sung-eun as the only female member as the cheerleader and manager.
Moon led the press conference for the show, attended by his team's players who lack variety show qualities and in place of Yoo who was absent due to receiving reserve forces training. When the microphone was passed around, the idol singers tried their best to do more than give their rookie-like pledges that they would "try to do our best" on the show while former idol star Moon looked fatherly trying to mend the atmosphere which had quieted after a flat goal ceremony by Karam.

Idol United will be playing a total of five games against college and regular soccer teams who apply for a match through MTV's website. The soccer teams will get to amass 200,000 won per goal that they score which will be donated to soccer teams in run-down districts. However, Idol United faces the obstacle of differentiating itself from the already successful KBS sports variety program "Invincible Baseball Team," even with its plan to win over female viewers' hearts with handsome idol stars playing soccer. Producer Lee's explanation that "the difference is that one is soccer and the other is baseball" is not enough. Moon and Sung-eun said they were convinced their show would be popular, "showing the full onstage make-up of the idol singers melting off." And it would also be different in that unlike the "Invincible Baseball Team" which has a line-up of strong players, Idol United will show how the unskilled Lee Joon will gradually become an ace. In that sense, "Idol United" is similar to KBS' "Shootdori" which aired in time with the 2006 Fifa World Cup Germany. At their first match, FC Shootdori had let their opposing team score a whopping 21 goals being unaware of the basic rules of soccer, but won their first match in five months. The young players matured along with their soccer skills and their characters naturally took form as well. This may be the path that the players of "Idol United" may have to follow.
