Korean pop group Wonder Girls featured on AOL Music website [AOL]
Asian pop sensation Wonder Girls has been named "Artist of the Month" by popular U.S. portal site AOL.
The five-member band was introduced in the site's youth-targeted music section (http://kids.aol.com) as "an all girl group that hails from South Korea" under the heading "Girl Power!"
The monthly feature told of the group's musical activities in the American pop market last year including their 45 opening gigs for boy band Jonas Brothers' summer tour and a Billboard chart entry for their debut single "Nobody," which was placed at No. 76 in October 2009.
The article further mentioned that "Nobody" had topped various music charts in Taiwan and Hong Kong and informed readers of the group's upcoming U.S. tour dates. Links to their photos and official music video to "Nobody" were also included.
"We are very glad to hear such good news prior to our album release in the U.S.," the members were quoted as saying. "We are grateful for the attention and support and we will do our best to live up to our fans' love."
Wonder Girls -- composed of Sohee, Yubin, Sun, Yenny and new member Lim -- will be releasing their new album "2 Different Tears" on May 16 (Korea time).
Six tracks on the record are known to be remakes of their original K-pop hits while the title track and its music video will be available in Korean, Chinese and English.
The girls are scheduled to arrive in Korea on May 17 to promote the album.
