Two Stars' Fate Uncertain in ‘Cinderella’s Stepsister’

Two stars have confronted each other in the same coincidental way as they did eight years ago in the Wednesday-Thursday drama “Cinderella’s Stepsister.”

In the 11th episode on May 5, Hong Gi-hun (Chun Jung-myung) goes to a temple after being tormented with feelings of guilt about the death of Gu Dae-seong (Kim Kap-soo), who treated and trusted him like a son. At the advice of a monk, he makes 3,000 bows to the Buddha repenting of his actions that put Dae-seong in trouble. He manages to come back to Dae-seong’s residence.

Standing against the wall at the door, Gi-hun comes to see Song Eun-jo (Moon Geun-young), who happens to come outside, just like it happened eight years ago when the two started to have feelings for each other. He calls her name when she tries to turn back and falls feebly.

When Eun-jo helps him stand up, he tells her what he has held in his heart. “I no longer deserve trying to be with you, but please let me take care of you and Hyo-seon instead of Dae-seong. I will do so as if I expiate myself before Buddha,” he says. Gu Hyo-seon (Seo-woo) is Dae-seong’s daughter and Eun-jo’s stepsister.
Eun-jo tells him that she does not understand what he means but does not want to know either, and that he should be good not to her but to Hyo-seon. She also expresses her regret for Dae-seong, saying, “I don’t like her [Hyo-seon] but if I am good and kind to her, I may be forgiven even a little and able to repay the love Dae-seong showed me.”

But towards the end of the episode, Eun-jo, sick of the cunningness and heartlessness of her mother Song Gang-suk (Lee Mi-sook), asks Gi-hun to run away with her from her mother, raising curiosity over the next development.
