Korean singer Uee of girl band After School has been selected to advertise a popular designer jeans brand with Chinese actress Chi-ling Lin, according to global denim brand 7 For All Mankind.
Uee and Lin will be featured in the 2010 worldwide campaign for the brand with each star promoting the product to her home country market.
"Uee appeals to people with her innocent image, long legs and glamorous physique," said an executive at 7 Jeans Korea. "She meets the prerequisites necessary in becoming a denim model and she is liked by everyone, so that is why we chose her."
7 Jeans had only used American models in their past ads for overseas market but recently decided to adopt a localization strategy and feature local celebrities in the target market.
Uee, whose real name is Kim Yu-jin, is one of the seven members of popular girl band After School. The 21-year-old has become one of the hottest young stars in Korea since joining the group early last year and later making her acting debut in the hit MBC drama "Queen Seon-deok".
