SS501 member Park Jung-min has denied recent rumors that he had signed with Taiwan's Sony Records.

Park posted a message on his official website on Saturday, saying "I have not signed with any agency as of yet. There have been offers from several places but I have not yet given my [final] answer. I have only responded that I will talk it over with the members."

He further explained that the group, whose contract with agency DSP Media expired on June 8, had received offers from major agencies in Korea, including DSP Media, as well as overseas where all the members would collectively be signed. But none of the offers fell through, Park added.

Park ended the message by saying, "DSP Media is taking care of everything until we sign with an agency. I will make the official announcement when we sign a contract."

Boy band SS501 has been one of the most successful K-pops acts in Asia since their debut in 2005 with single "Warning."

They topped various music charts with their second mini-album "Rebirth" last October and recently released the latest record "DESTINATION," their final album under DSP Media.

The future activities of the group has been hanging in the air since it being reported last week that the band's leader Kim Hyun-joong had individually signed with Bae Yong-joon's agency KEYEAST.

SS501 Will Continue Despite Kim Hyun-joong Departing DSP Entertainment

All eyes have been on the frontman of SS501, Kim Hyun-joong, over the end of his contract with DSP Entertainment. Final confirmation arrived via many major news outlets early June 29th stating that Kim has indeed decided to leave DSP Entertainment for Keyeast Entertainment. Keyeast is where many well-known actors are signed under, including Bae Yong-joon (whom Kim Hyun-joong was sighted with before the official decision was made), Park Ye-jin, Bong Tae-gyoo, Lee Bo-young, Lee Na-young, and Hwanhee. Many have speculated that this decision will push him further into the acting realm.

Just because Kim has made his decision doesn't put the bigger issue to rest: what will happen to SS501? The main possible options were that the group would break up, the group woud continue without their leader, or that they would continue their group activities with Kim signed under a different agency. Another related issue is that if Kim does indeed leave the group, will there be a new member to replace him?
Amid these speculations, Kim spoke out to Sports Korea saying that SS501 will not be breaking up. He said that although the remaining members have yet to make their decision regarding their contract with DSP, there are no plans at present for the group coming to an end. He said that whether he leaves and is replaced, or stays as the group's leader, the group as a whole will go on. DSP reported that as the other members are currently on vacation, their final decisions will not be made until they return.

Kim Hyun-joong Fans Share the Love On His Birthday

Fans of Kim Hyun-joong, the leader of popular idol group SS501, united to make a very generous donation in honor of Kim's birthday on June 6th. Rather than spending money on sending Kim a nice birthday present, about 200 fans chose to use that money for a bigger cause: to help those that are more underprivileged. These members of Kim's fan club collected a total of 6,060,000 won under the title of Kim Hyun-joong's birthday fund. This money will be added to the Kim Hyun-joong scholarship fund that they also helped raise last February. It will contribute to various university expenses such as day care centers, admission fees, etc.

This is actually a growing trend in Korea where fans will do good deeds and collect generous sums for charity under the name of their beloved kpop celebrity.
