Korean girl band T-ara promoting restaurant chain "Skylark" in Japan [Core Contents Media]

Korean pop groups T-ara and Choshinsung have successfully wrapped up their joint concert in Japan, according to a press release by their agency Core Contents Media on Friday.

The concert, held June 3 at Yokohama Britz Hall, was sponsored by local restaurant chain Skylark as part of promoting their new Korean menu. The two groups have been advertising the food chain since last March.

T-ara and Choshinsung performed a total of nine songs at the concert, in front of some 1,000 fans who came to see the show.

However, T-ara member Ham Eun-jung was unable to take part in the concert due to her shooting schedule for SBS TV series "Coffee House."

T-ara, who debuted in July 2009 with the single "Lie" and "Wanna Play," is composed of Eunjung, Hyomin, Jiyeon, Boram, Soyeon and Qri.

They released their first studio album "Absolute First Album" in December 2009, which produced two hit singles "BoPeepBoPeep" and "I Go Crazy Because Of You."

Choshinsung is also a six-member group consisting of members Jung Yunhak, Kim Sungje, Yoon Sungmo, Kim Kwangsu, Song Jihyuk and Park Geonil.

After making their debut in Korea in October 2007 with the album "The Beautiful Stardust," they went on to release a mini-album in Korea plus two studio albums and seven singles in Japan. Their fourth single in Japan, titled "Last Kiss," peaked at No. 4 on the Oricon music chart.

Both groups gained popularity as their collaboration projects "TTL (Time to Love)" and "TTL Listen 2" became smash hits, dominating various K-pop music charts last year.

T-Ara's Eun Jung Performs Sexy Dance on ‘Invincible Youth’

Eun Jung, a member of T-Ara beloved for her sexy charisma, appeared on the episode of KBS 2TV's farm reality show “Invincible Youth” that aired on April 30 as a special guest and successfully made her debut on a reality entertainment program.

Eun Jung appeared on the program as a special guest and completely overwhelmed the cast and crew by showing off a sexy dance.

On the set of “Invincible Youth,” in which the members have gotten stuck into doing farming, Eun Jung reportedly produced a big laugh by actively participating in the show, such as by jumping into a rice paddy and showing some slapstick comedy.

Kim Jong Min, who is well known for his ingenuous character, also visited the set of “Invincible Youth” as another special guest and displayed his interest in Sun Hwa, who is also the most ingenuous character among the G7 members of “Invincible Youth.”

The two held a so-called “blank paper quiz” contest and created an uproar on the set by their comments, as crew members practically died laughing at their remarks during the quiz. They also revealed a friendly brother-sister-like relationship while they planted potatoes together.

The self-sufficient reality show “Invincible Youth” is gaining huge popularity in Thailand.

G7 member and singer Kim Tae Woo went to Thailand to broadcast a music program and witnessed substantial interest from the local people, capturing  their images with a personal camera. The video showed a placard bearing the phrase “Bear Woo G7” in the audience, and the cast members reportedly realized their popularity when they saw girls in Thailand holding various placards bearing phrases such as “Invincible Youth” and “G7.”

The performance of the group Secret and the enthusiastic audiences in Thailand could be seen on the episode of KBS 2TV's “Invincible Youth” that aired on April 30 at 11:05 PM.

American R&B group Boyz II Men appear on music show POP CON in Korea [Mnet]

U.S. pop group Boyz II Men, who recently gave concert in Korea, has said that they would like to work with K-pop female band T-ara and Girls' Generation, according to music channel Mnet on Friday.

The three-man band sat down for an exclusive interview with Mnet, held after their Seoul concert on April 16 and 17, and talked about Korean pop music and artists.

The American singers were well aware of the girl band craze in Korea, mentioning groups T-ara and Girls' Generation, and remarked that they "would like to work with them if opportunity arises."

When asked about Korean pop groups 4MEN and Brown Eyed Soul (the former had opened for Boyz II Men's Seoul gig while the latter had met the group backstage), they answered that they had listened to their music, adding that both groups had "excellent skills."

About their latest album "LOVE" -- a collection of remakes of classic pop songs -- they said that they were "inspired by the past which we love and, of course, we wanted to share our favorite songs with fans."

Founded in Philadelphia in the late 1980s, the group -- originally composed of Michael McCary, Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman -- released their debut album "Cooleyhighharmony" in 1991, which sold over nine million copies and won a Grammy.

Their single "End of the Road", featured on the original soundtrack for Eddie Murphy film "Boomerang," stayed at No. 1 on the Billboard singles chart for 13 weeks. Another single "One Sweet Day," performed with pop diva Mariah Carey in 1995, holds the all-time record for the longest No. 1 run at 16 weeks.

Their second album "II", released in 1994, produced two more chart-toppers "I'll Make Love To You" and "On Bended Knee" and sold over 12 million copies in the U.S. alone.

Member Michael McCary left the group in 2003 however, due to physical and personal problems. The remaining members, who have released several more studio albums and compilation records, are planning to mark the 20th anniversary of the group's debut next year with a new album and cruise tour.

"POP CON" airs on Mnet every Saturday at noon.

T-ara's Jiyeon Learned Sexy Looks from Hyomin

In the "Happy Together Season 3" episode that aired Thursday on KBS-2TV, Jiyeon from the girl group T-ara said she learned how to create her sexy look from group member Hyomin.

T-ara has gone from cute to sexy in their new album "I Go Crazy Because of You." MC Yu Jae-seok asked if it's not difficult for Jiyeon, still in high school, to put on a sexy image. She said it's awkward but she's learning "sexy looks" from Hyomin, which raised curiosity.

Sexy Hyomin vs Cutie Jiyeon

Hyomin said the other members are old enough to watch adult-rated movies, which surprised the MCs.

Hyomin then showed off the sexy looks she personally taught to Jiyeon.

Jiyeon squared off with her cute looks. She played the adorable Na Hyeon-jeong in the hit KBS high school drama "Lord of Study" that ended recently.

The other two guests of Happy Together were comedians Hong Rok-gi and Pyo In-bong.

T-ara : 'We Want to Make New History of Girl Groups'

Famous six-member girl group T-ara is posing in a press conference with Japanese group Cho Shin Sung (supernova), a group of six "pretty boys," in front of a building in Roppongi, Tokyo on March 17. The photo advertises the fact that their project group, TTL, has shot a commercial promoting Gusto Restaurant, a popular subsidiary to the Skylark family restaurant chain.

Famous six-member girl group T-ara, who already announced their debut in Japan, delivered their thoughts on their Japanese debut and their future plans.

T-ara met Korean news reporters in Roppongi, Tokyo on March 17 and said, “No Korean girl group has been ranked on the Japanese Oricon single chart so far, but we want to make a new history of Korean girl groups in Japan.”

The leader of the group, Eun Jung, expressed her feelings, “Our debut in Japan sounds grandiose, I am very excited, but nervous.” Another member, So Yeon, said, “I heard that it will be very difficult for Korean girl groups to survive and succeed in Japan, but we want many Japanese fans to love us.”

Asked about their experience in Japan, Hyo Min answered, “When I was a sophomore in high school, I got a debut offer from a Japanese agency, Avex, and had an audition for two weeks in Japan, but I had to give up due to my school studies.” Eun Jung also shared her experience, “Before I made a debut as a singer, when I was in the third year of junior high school, I appeared in the joint Korea-Japan movie ‘Docchigogo’ after a debut offer from Sony. The movie was about playing dodgeball.”

Asked about T-ara’s image, the group members explained, “T-ara is cute rather than sexy. We are a friendly idol group, like friends rather than mysterious strangers.”

They added, “A famous composer, Face 2 Fake, has jointly worked on the Japanese version (JP) of our title song ‘TTL (Time To Love),’ which will be used as the background music for a Japanese TV commercial. Along with our debut in Japan by releasing our album, we will also hold a concert this upcoming May.”

Six-member girl group T-ara continued to reign Gaon's singles chart for the second time last week with their song "I Go Crazy Because of You."

The single is from their repackaged album "Breaking Heart" which was released in late February. The record also contains "I'm Really Hurt," the second song the girls started promoting on Monday with the release of a music video.

Meanwhile, hip hop group Epik High stormed to No. 1 on the weekly album chart with their new record "epilogue" released last Tuesday.

Rounding off the top three were T-ara's latest album and girl group 2NE1's first mini-album "I Don't Care," respectively.

The Gaon music chart, considered the Korean equivalent of the U.S. Billboard chart, was launched last month. Its data has been accumulated from online and offline sales statistics from the country's major web-based providers and record distribution companies.
