Rain's agency offically denies datings rumors

Top Korean stars Jun Ji-hyun (left) and Rain [Sidus HQ / J.Tune Entertainment]

Asian superstar Rain's agency J.Tune Entertainment has officially denied the day's earlier reports that the singer and actor has been secretly dating top Korean actress Jun Ji-hyun.

J. Tune announced in a press release Thursday afternoon -- several hours after local media Sportsseoul.com reported that the two have been romantically involved since last October -- that details of their alleged courtship, such as how and where they met, are "not true."

"It is true that Rain is friends with Jun," an official at J. Tune was quoted as saying, confirming numerous reports that the actors have discussed appearing in a television drama together.

However, the official denied Sportsseoul.com's story about Rain and Jun meeting through a mutual acquaintance, a prominent figure in the Korean conglomerate family who played matchmaker for the stars.

In response to paparazzi photos and an eye witness' account of Rain's frequent visits to Jun's apartment in Seoul's tony Samsung-dong neighborhood, he said the actor was actually visiting "a friend" who lived in the same building.

And photos of their cars entering the apartment complex were "taken on separates dates," as opposed to traveling separately in order to keep their romantic meetings secret from the public, the official added.

Sportsseoul.com had also presented several photos of Rain and Jun wearing accessories from Cartier, a high-end jewelry maker, as evidence that they were a couple. In the pictures, Rain was seen wearing a platinum ring on his ring finger while Jun had a leather bracelet from the same brand.

J. Tune explained that the ring is "a family ring," not a couple ring representing the actor's romantic commitment to the actress.

The agency ended the statement by saying they are "saddened" that Rain's privacy has been invaded and that they are considering "taking legal actions" against the false media report.

Rain and Jun Ji-hyun's agencies deny dating rumors

Top Korean stars Jun Ji-hyun (left) and Rain

Agencies for top Korean stars Rain and Jun Ji-hyun have denied the romantic status of their stars, saying the recent news of the two dating, as one local media reported, is "not true" and "groundless."

Around 11 a.m. this morning, Sportsseoul.com released a shocking report that the two actors have been dating since last October along with a witness testimony that Rain had often visited Jun's apartment in Seoul's affluent Samsung-dong district.

Talent agencies J. Tune Entertainment and Sidus HQ, who respectively represent Rain and Jun, first kept mum about the news, saying only they "do not know anything" and that they will soon release official statements.

President Cho Dong-won of J. Tune Entertainment, which represents Rain, had told Asia Economic Daily over the phone that he "just heard about the news" and that he "will release an official statement after confirming facts."

Another source close to Rain called the reports untrue, saying "I have been watching Rain closely for several years and I didn't feel that he was dating anyone."

Meanwhile, Jun's agency Sidus HQ dismissed the rumors by saying, "they are not dating" although it is true that they "have met several times" to discuss appearing in a television drama together.

Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, is one of Asia's most popular entertainers who has achieved a phenomenal level of success in both singing and acting.

He went from being a promising trainee to a mega-popular singer and actor in just ten years, releasing six studio albums and starring in several hit television dramas.

In 2008, he went to Hollywood and made his international debut with a supporting role in the Wachowski Brothers' pic "Speed Racer," followed by a lead role in martial arts film "Ninja Assassin."

Jun Ji-hyun, whose English name is Gianna Jun, is considered one of the most beautiful actresses in Korea. She became a household name after starring in the 2001 hit film "My Sassy Girl" which spawned a Hollywood remake.

She recently wrapped up shooting the film "Snow Flower And The Secret Fan" with Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman and Chinese actress Li Bingbing.

The news of Rain and Jun's alleged romantic involvement caused an instant frenzy among fans who dubbed the couple "another A-list pairing since Jang Dong-gun and Ko So-young."

Are Rain and Jun Ji-hyun dating?

Asian pop sensation Rain and top actress Jun Ji-hyun have been dating since October last year, according to a local sports daily on Thursday.

Sportsseoul.com released a report earlier in the day, based on a three-month observation, which detailed the romantic relationship between the two including how they first met and where they date.

The paper explained that the couple had met last year through a prominent figure of conglomerate family status in Korea, who held multiple get-togethers in an attempt to matchmake the two.

Rain, 27, is known for being acquainted with some of Korea's most influential business figures including CJ Group CEO Lee Jay-hyun, Vice Chairwoman Lee Mi-kyung and Lotte Shopping President Shin Young-ja, whom he mentioned in the 'Thanks to' section of the jacket of his most recent album "BACK TO THE BASIC" he released in early April.

The article then went on to say that Rain and Jun always met at one of the two's house to keep their relationship secret from the public, with Rain in particular going over to Jun's apartment I'PARK in Samsungdong of Seoul 'as if it were his own.'

I'PARK is Hyundai Development Company's apartment complex brand and the complex in Samsungdong is said to be the priciest of them all, owned only by the top one percent of the wealthiest people in the country.

Accordingly, security is strict and one cannot enter the building without an RF card. Rain did not have one when he made his first visit last year so Jun had to make the approval, a security guard at Jun's apartment complex was quoted as saying on the condition of anonymity.

The guard added however, that the singer's vehicle was able to enter automatically from then on, indicating that Rain obtained a card from Jun.

Paparazzi photographs also showed the two actors traveling in separate cars, yet towards Jun's apartment which is three minutes away by car from Rain's house in the posh district of Cheongdam.

"The two met on a relatively regularly based completely on Rain's schedule. They would mostly meet before and after his shoots and always avoided [meeting] on Fridays and Saturdays when he has to do pre-recordings for music shows. Instead, they would always spend Sundays together when the music shows are over." Sportsseoul said.

Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, is one of Asia's most popular entertainers whose singing and acting career have both been successful.

He has also been busy building his career in Hollywood over the past few years, making his debut through the Wachowski Brothers' pic "Speed Racer" in 2008 and following it up with a lead role in "Assassin," for which he won the award for "Biggest Badass Star" at this year's MTV Awards.

Jun, 28, became a household name after starring in the 2001 hit film "My Sassy Girl" which spawned a Hollywood remake.

Since making her international debut last year through film "Blood: The Last Vampire", she has been filming "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" with Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman and Chinese actress Li Bingbing.

Korean pop stars Lee Hyori and Rain are making news for saying that they were both attracted to each other at one point during their decade-long friendship.

They made the remark while making a guest appearance on MBC variety talk show "Come On Over," which aired Monday evening.

"Lee Hyori is a person who has a lot of charms," said Rain on the show. "She exudes an unbelievable aura on stage but she is like a vulnerable little girl in some ways."

He went on to say, "Hyori doesn't know this but I think she has a power that attracts men."

When Lee asked Rain if he ever thought about her in a romantic way, he answered, "There is no man who would not regard Lee Hyori as a woman."

Lee then admitted to once having felt romantic feelings for Rain. "There was one time when I thought of Rain as more than just a friend -- when I bumped into him at a tanning shop," explained Lee. "He was in the next room and I heard him taking his clothes off. I started to imagine things."

The two singers, both famous for their huge sex appeal, are known to be close friends to industry insiders. When Rain recently made a comeback to the local music scene, he reportedly said that he is happy to see "one familiar face" on televised music shows, referring to Lee, who also came out with a new album titled "H-Logic."
