Girls' Generation member Taeyeon [SM Entertainment]
Female idol group Girls' Generation leader Taeyeon will be making a musical debut in May through "Midnight Sun," according to the Seoul Metropolitan Musical Theater on Tuesday.
A press release by the troupe announced that Taeyeon has been cast to play the lead female character named Kaoru in the musical based on Japanese writer Bandou Kenji's novel of the same name.
"Sun" is about a girl and a surfer who fall in love with each other, yet the girl suffers from a rare disease in which her skin cannot be exposed to the sun.
Taeyeon, 21, is the leader and main vocalist of her popular nine-member girl group. She has also appeared in several variety shows including MBC's reality show "We Got Married" and is currently a supporting host on talk show "Win Win."
"Sun" is set to run from May 7 to 29 at the Sejong M Theatre in Seoul.
