Nine-member girl group Girls' Generation promoting "Oh!" [SM Entertainment]
K-pop idol group Girls' Generation's hit album "Oh!" is proving to be a sensation throughout Asia, according to their agency SM Entertainment on Monday.
The girls' second full-length album had taken the Korean music scene by storm upon its release in late January, topping music charts of major online music providers and taking the No. 1 spot on televised music shows for several weeks straight.
The record, then released in Thailand on March 9, ranked on top of the country's charts including BS2 TOP20, GRAM ASIAN POP TOP10, MTV International chart and placed atop Channel V's Asian chart for three consecutive weeks.
The album also swept the music charts of Taiwan after its release in the country on March 12, conquering the online and offline charts of the top three record distribution and radio companies in the country including G-MUSIC, FIVE MUSIC, Kuang nan, hit fm, iradio and KISS radio. It also dominated KKBOX's weekly on and offline singles charts.
Unveiled a week later in the Philippines, "Oh!" climbed to the top of the weekly charts of the country's biggest music retail chain Odyssey and Music One.
Girls' Generation, who began their musical career in 2007, have numerous hit singles under their belt including, "Girls' Generation," "Gee," and "Tell Me Your Wish."
They are currently enjoying a successful comeback with their repackaged second album "Run Devil Run," triumphing on various music charts with a title track of the same name.
