Hangeng to hold concert in China amidst legal troubles

Super Junior member Hangeng, who is currently embroiled in a legal battle with agency SM Entertainment, is reportedly planning to hold a solo concert in China next month.

Multiple media reports showed a poster of the singer's upcoming solo concert in China, which indicates that he will be performing at Beijing Exhibition Center on July 17 and 18.

The news of his solo gig comes somewhat unexpected, considering he hasn't yet cleared his ongoing legal dispute with SM.

The singer, who is the only Chinese member of K-pop group Super Junior, had filed a petition to the Seoul Central District Court last December, requesting that his contract with SM be invalidated.

Hangeng's legal representative explained at the time that the singer had been restricted from pursuing individual activities and did not agree with how the agency works.

Super Junior -- composed of members Leeteuk, Heechul, Hangeng, Yesung, Kang-in, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, Kibum and Kyuhyun -- debuted in December 2005 with their first studio album titled "SuperJunior05 (TWINS)".

They became a K-pop phenomenon across Asia, thanks to the success of their subsequent albums "Don't Don" (2007) and "Sorry, Sorry" (2009), and held two sold-out concert tours in 2008 and 2009 titled "The 1st Asia Tour - Super Show" and "Super Show 2".

Hangeng and two other members, Kang-in and Kibum, did not take part in recording or promoting the group's latest album "BONAMANA."
