Santana to perform in Korea in August

Legendary rock guitarist Santana will be visiting Korea this summer to give his second concert in the country, according to concert organizer Woodstock Korea.

Woodstock Korea announced in a press release that Santana will be headlining the "The Peace at DMZ with Artie Kornfeld, the Father of Woodstock" music festival, to be held in Paju from August 6 to August 8.

The second line-up for the music fest include rock bands Simple Plan, Mamas Gun, Smile Empty Soul, metal group Dead By Wednesday, U.S. R&B singer Keri Hilson and Japanese band Seattle Standard Cafe.

Korean artists performing at the event include N.EX.T, Dr.Core 911, TA Copy, Do Won-kyung, Napoleon Dynamite, Storyseller, Nevada51 and Spotlight.

Born in Mexico, Carlos Santana made his debut in 1966 with his band, also named Santana. He has released over a dozen albums with the band as well as several solo records and collaboration albums with other artists.

He is best known for the 1999 hit album "Supernatural," which produced the international hit single "Smooth" featuring U.S. rock vocalist Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty. The album sold over 25 million copies worldwide and won nine Grammy Awards.

Santana and his band performed at the original Woodstock music festival in 1969. He gave his first concert in Korea in 1996.

Tickets for the music fest, which will take place at Imjingak Pyeonghoa-nuri Park near DMZ, will be available on Auction website (http://ticket.auction.co.kr).
