Korean rock band FT Island has kicked off their five-city concert tour in Japan, according to their agency FNC Music on Monday.

FNC said in a press release that the five-member band performed in front of some 3,000 fans in Tokyo on Friday, as the first show of their live tour titled "Zepp Tour 2010-Hands UP."

The concert featured around twenty songs including the recent J-pop hits "Flower Rock" and "Brand-New days" as well as tracks from their previous underground days.

The tour will continue onto Nagoya, Fukuoka, Osaka, Sendai and wrap up with an outdoor concert at Tokyo's Hibiya Park on August 14.

FT Island, which stands for Five Treasure Island, is composed of members Lee Hong-ki, Lee Jae-jin, Song Seung-hyun, Choi Min-hwan and Choi Jong-hoon. The indie band splashed onto the mainstream K-pop music scene in June 2007 with the album "Cheerful Sensibility."

They recently released two single albums "Flower Rock" and "Brand-new days" in Japan, which climbed to No. 3 and No.8, respectively, on Oricon's album chart.

The quintet will also be taking part in the international rock festival "Summer Sonic 2010," which kicks off in Tokyo and Osaka on August 7.
