Teenage girl band GP Basic to debut next week

New K-pop girl band GP Basic [Nega Network]

A young, new girl band named GP Basic will be making their debut on the K-pop music scene, according to their agency Nega Network on Thursday.

GP Basic, composed of one sixth-grader and five eighth-graders whose average age is fifteen, will be the youngest female group working in the industry, Nega Network explained in a press release.

"They have been building up dancing and singing skills for two years through training and boast a powerful teamwork," an official at the agency was quoted as saying. "They are young in age but will show strong girl power that will threaten the stronghold of older girl groups."

Girl bands are currently dominating the local pop scene with new acts like Girls Day, miss A and SISTAR heating up the competition with existing girl groups such as 2NE1, After School, Brown Eyed Girls, f(x), Girls' Generation, Kara and T-ara.

GP Basic will be unveiling their debut single next week on various online music sites.
