Korean actor Hyun Bin will release a single album in Japan, according to his agency AM Entertainment on Wednesday.

"The actor will be releasing a single album in Japan for his fans," a representative from AM explained, stressing that it "does not mean the start of a singing career."

The rep went on to say the album features two songs that were written specifically for Hyun Bin, which he had already performed in the country during his fan meeting on April 29.

She added that a date has yet to be set for the release of the album.

On the same day, Hyun Bin will unveil his video pictorial that was shot in Hawaii to promote his new film tentatively titled "Late Autumn," also starring Chinese actress Wei Tang, which recently wrapped up filming in the U.S.

Hyun Bin, whose real name is Kim Tae-pyung, made his debut in 2003 in the KBS drama "Body Guard" and rose to fame for his role in the hit series "My Name Is Kim Sam-soon" alongside actress Kim Suna.

He starred in other dramas including "The World That They Live In" and "Friend, Our Legend."

Korean film "The Battle of Yellow Sea," starring heartthrob Hyun Bin, has been sold to the United Kingdom on the eve of the ongoing Cannes Film Market in France.

"Yellow Sea," directed by famed film director Kwak Kyung-taek, was sold to Showbox for the U.K. at the market held concurrently with the Cannes Film Festival, reported film magazine Screen International on Tuesday.

Joo Jin-mo also stars in the film, a 3D action drama based on the true story of the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong which occurred in June 2002, when a North Korean patrol boat crossed the sea boundary line and engaged in a marine confrontation with South Korea.

"Yellow Sea," to be produced on a 15 billion won budget, is in pre-production stages and will go into shoot starting next month.

Hyun Bin, also the current boyfriend of top Korean actress Song Hye-kyo, has been a star in the Asian region since appearing in MBC's smash hit TV series "My Name is Kim Sam-soon in 2005.

Joo Jin-mo, who starred opposite actress Kim Ah-joong in film "200 Pounds Beauty," is set to appear in the Korean remake of John Woo's classic Hong Kong noir film "A Better Tomorrow" this year alongside Hallyu star Song Seung-heon.

Korean actors Hyun Bin and Joo Jin-mo have been cast in a film tentatively titled "Beautiful Us," according to an executive for movie's sales firm Miro Vision.

The executive, currently promoting the pic to foreign movie buyers at the Cannes film market in France, distributed booklets in which the two actors were introduced as the film's male leads.

"Us," a war drama to be filmed in 3D, will be helmed by noted Korean filmmaker Kwak Kyung-taek, who has directed both actors in previous works -- Hyun Bin in MBC TV series "Friend, Our Legend" (a small screen adaptation of Kwak's 2001 hit movie "Friend") and Joo in 2007 film "A Love."

The film is based on the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong which occurred in June 2002, when a North Korean patrol boat crossed the sea boundary line and engaged in a marine confrontation with South Korea.

Korean actor Hyun Bin will be visiting Japan later this week to hold a fan meeting in Yokohama, according to his agency AM Entertainment.

An official at AM explained that the actor will be meeting with some 7,000 fans at the event titled "2010 HYUN BIN Do the motion? Aloha, My barista!" on Thursday afternoon, 5 p.m, at the Yokohama Arena.

The actor is rumored to display his barista skills and reveal videos that he shot in Hawaii, where he spent two weeks last month learning how to pick and roast coffee on a coffee farm.

Hyun Bin, whose real name is Kim Tae-pyung, rose to stardom when he appeared as a restaurant owner in smash hit TV series "My Name Is Kim Sam-soon" (MBC, 2005).

He followed it up with dramas "The World That They Live In" (KBS2, 2008), where he started dating co-star Song Hye-kyo, and "Friend, Our Legend" (MBC, 2009), a small screen remake of the hit 2001 film "Friend" which starred Hallyu star Jang Dong-gun.

Korean actresses keep Hallyu doors open after Yonsama

Sam-soon and Shin Do-young -- the female characters in Korean dramas "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon" and "Woman of the Sun" -- are knocking on the doors of Japanese television. Japanese broadcaster Fuji TV has programmed a special "Hallyu Alpha" airtime for Hallyu dramas -- at 2:00 PM, Mondays through Fridays starting January 11. So far, "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon" (MBC, 2005) has ended its run and "Woman of the Sun" (KBS2, 2008) has started airing in Japan since February 1. Although several Korean dramas -- including "Winter Sonata", "Jewel in the Palace" and "Stairway to Heaven" -- had previously aired in the country, it is unprecedented for a Japanese terrestrial broadcaster to set up an exclusive time slot for Hallyu dramas.

"Hallyu Alpha" is an example of ambitious programming undertaken by Fuji TV, who have proclaimed "the new Hallyu era" and announced that they plan to broadcast many successful dramas that scored high viewership ratings in Korea. Fuji TV executives added that it is their goal to not only maintain existing Hallyu fans but also turn viewers who were not fond of the Korean dramas into Hallyu fans through such programming. Hence, while previous Korean dramas that aired on terrestrial networks had been edited in considerable amounts and been dubbed, the ones airing through "Hallyu Alpha" are the original, unedited versions and are broadcast in two languages--Korean and Japanese. What is also worth watching is the special video that "Hallyu Alpha" producers have put in exclusively for the programming. In case of "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon", actors Hyun Bin and Kim Suna appear on the screen and greet viewers at the start of every episode. More fun is available for viewers in a bloopers video or behind-the-scenes interviews which comes on after the episode has aired.

Hyun Bin and Kim Suna have both visited Japan to promote the airing of "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon". On January 8, close to 1,000 fans showed up to see Hyun Bin -- who made the Japan trip before Kim Suna -- at the promotional event for the series. With another television drama "Friend, Our Legend" (MBC, 2009) set to air on the network's satellite channel BS Fuji starting February 17, Hyun Bin was busy promoting his work on several live TV shows on Fuji including the variety show "Waratte Iitomo".

On the other hand, Korean actress Kim Suna -- who was voted "Favorite Korean Actress" last year in a survey conducted by female-targeted entertainment channel LaLaTV -- paid a surprise visit to the country, just before the final airing of "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon". She delighted Japanese fans by cheerfully conducting interviews in her fluent Japanese. It seems that the post-Yonsama, "new Hallyu era" is most likely be led by Korea's female actresses.
