Heechul says Yoona is "the prettiest female celebrity"

Super Junior member Heechul has praised Yoona of Girls' Generation, calling her "the prettiest female celebrity I have seen" on his official Twitter site (http://twitter.com/Heedictator/).

The singer had posted the compliment along with a candid picture that he had taken alongside Yoona on his personal Twitter page yesterday.

"Yoona has a great balance of good personality and good looks -- her face looks much prettier without make-up and powder," the pop idol wrote.

He also hinted at his close friendship with her, saying that "we affectionately tease each other whenever we meet -- I call her grandma and she calls me old man. But she is the prettiest female celebrity that I have seen."

In the photo, the young pop stars looked goofy and friendly, striking an identical pose -- their index finger touching their lips.

Hundreds of fans have responded to the pic, making various comments such as "I'm so jealous," "you broke my heart" and "both look cute."

Heechul is one of the thirteen members of boy band Super Junior, who debuted in December 2005 with their first studio album titled "SuperJunior05 (TWINS)".

They became a K-pop phenomenon across Asia, thanks to the success of their subsequent albums "Don't Don" (2007) and "Sorry, Sorry" (2009), and held two sold-out concert tours in 2008 and 2009 titled "The 1st Asia Tour - Super Show" and "Super Show 2".

As one of the more versatile members in the group, Heechul has branched out to acting in dramas and appearing on numerous variety shows over the past several years. He recently joined the cast of celebrity variety show "Family Outing Season 2."

Super Junior is currently promoting their fourth full-length album "BONAMANA" as a ten-man band as members Kang-in, Kibum and Hangeng decided to take a break from group activities.

[FASHION] Lid hair: Taecyeon vs. Yoona

Lid hair: 2PM's Taecyeon vs. Girls' Generation's Yoona [10Asia]

2PM member Taecyeon's lid hair
A lid is intended at covering for protection. Other idol stars have tried the lid hairstyle but the style originated from character Ho-sup in the 1989 MBC weekend drama "Happy Woman." That is why [Ok] Taecyeon is being called Ok Ho-sup. The avant garde hairstyle swept the fashion shows of Paris in 2008 but it was actually a hairdresser's accident which brought about the innovation. Ho-sup's idiotic character left an impression strong enough that he could form a troika with actors Park In-hwan and Choi Joo-bong who are well-known for their comical acting. And although he may have donned a hairstyle which seems to have been cut with a bowl over his head as a template, he was a romanticist whose heart only belonged to Ae-kyung. Hence, Han Jung-woo (Taecyeon's character in TV series "Sister of Cinderella") who has his eyes and heart set only for Eun-jo is more than worthy of wearing the hairstyle.

Girls' Generation member Yoona's lid hair
A lid is also meant to provide an opening. In Korea, there is the phrase that one's 'lid opens' when that person gets angry, the 'lid' to a baseball stadium will open on the opening day of a new season of professional baseball and Yoona's lid will open too when she laughs and her bangs flip backward. That is why she is now called Im Ttuggeong ['lid' in Korean] Cars whose tops open, baseball fields whose domes open and night clubs whose roofs open up are still much more popular than the typical lids. But regardless of how popular Yoona is within her nine-member group, could there be a hairstyle which suits her better? She is the celebrity who has won the popularity award at the PaekSang Arts Award for two consecutive years. That is why Yoona is Im Ttuggeong.

Girls' Generation remains top album seller

K-pop idols Girls' Generation [SM Entertainment]

K-pop idol group Girls' Generation's second full-length album "Oh!" was the top-selling album again last week, according to figures by retailers on Wednesday.

Statistics by Hanteo and Hot Track indicated that the album topped the sales charts for the week of February 15 to 21 to maintain its hold atop album sales charts for the fourth consecutive time.

The record had received a total 150,000 advanced orders online and offline -- all of which have sold out, explained an official at the girls' agency SM Entertainment.

"Oh!" is Girls' Generation's fourth album to sell over 100,000 copies. Previous records such as their first full-length album "Girls' Generation," and their first and second mini albums "Gee" and "Tell Me Your Wish" had also sold over 100,000 copies each.

"Oh!," also the title track from the record, has been dominating several online music charts while also raking the top awards on televised music programs of major Korean broadcasters since early February.

The group, composed of Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun, made their debut in 2007 with the single "Into the New World." They had a particularly successful year in 2009, scoring back-to-back hits with singles "Gee" and "Tell Me Your Wish".

Girls' Generation dominates TV music programs

K-pop idols Girls' Generation [SM Entertainment]

K-pop artists Girls' Generation held onto the spot atop televised music programs over the weekend.

The nine-member girl group topped the chart of KBS' Friday music program "Music Bank" for the third consecutive week with their title track "Oh!" while taking their second Mutizen Award win on SBS' Sunday show "Inkigayo."

The group was part of Music Bank's TAKE 7 against 2AM, CNBLUE, Kim Jong-kuk, U-Kiss, Min Kyung-hoon and Gavy NJ. During SBS "Inkigayo," they performed "Show! Show! Show!" from their second full-length album.

The girl group has stormed to the top of TV and online music charts with "Oh!" from their album of the same name since its release late January.

Composed of Taeyeon, Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun, the girls made their debut in 2007 with their single "Into the New World." They are set to give an encore performance for their "1st ASIA TOUR CONCERT - Into the New World" on February 27 and 28.
