Korean idol group 2PM was crowned the winner of televised cable music program "M! Countdown" on Thursday, taking their first-ever win with single "Without U."
According to official tallies of the record album sales and online voting of "M! Countdown," the boy band's song claimed the No. 1 single spot on yesterday's show, beating last week's winner "Love Song" by singer Rain.
The show was not broadcast, however, with the funeral ceremony held for naval soldiers who were part of the mysterious explosion of naval ship Cheonan in late March.
The country had been in a state of grievance since the incident and all major public networks in the country had delayed or cancelled the broadcast of most of their entertainment shows.
Mnet aired a rerun of an episode featuring the comeback performances by songstress Lee Hyori and Rain.
2PM has been enjoying a successful return to the local music scene with their third single album "Don't Stop Can't Stop." Their new tune has fared well on numerous online and offline charts since its release last week.
