Korean pop princesses Girls' Generation opened their Asia tour in China over the weekend, performing at the first of a series of shows to be held throughout the region, according to their agency SM Entertainment on Tuesday.

The girls visited Shanghai on Saturday, the first stop of their "1st ASIA TOUR CONCERT--Into the new world," holding a three-hour long concert at the Shanghai Grand Stage where they sang their hit songs "Gee," "Tell Me Your Wish," "Kissing You" and "Oh!"

Each member of the band gave individual performances including Sooyoung who sang Britney Spears' song "If You Seek Amy," Yuri was joined by SHINee member Minho for their rendition of Ciara's "1,2 Step" and Yoona performed "If You Know a Good Man, Introduce Me" featuring SHINee members Taemin and Key.

All five members of K-pop idols SHINee, also managed under SM, made a stage appearance with their hit tune "Ring Ding Dong."

Girls' Generation is one of the most popular female idol groups in the country since making their debut in 2007. The girls recently saw a successful comeback to the music industry with their repackaged second album "Run Devil Run" which took over several on and offline music charts.

They will continue their Asia Tour into other countries including Thailand on May 29.
